Celebrating Traveller’s Choice in Bangkok

BangkokTravellersChoiceAward

Did you know that destinations can win Traveller’s Choice awards too? Recent winner Bangkok, Thailand decided to celebrate in style.

And Marc Charron, TripAdvisor Managing Director, APAC, was there to present Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra with the Traveller’s Choice Destination plaque on July 4, 2013.

More than 150 guests and 20 media outlets attended the event at the Bangkok Art & Culture Center. There was a lot to be proud of, considering Bangkok ranked an impressive 13th on the total list of 412 winners. In fact, this is the first year Bangkok has made it into the top 25 winners, based on millions of reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travelers.

The celebration continues even now, because 28 visitor centers in Bangkok will feature Traveller’s Choice Destination posters. If you ask us, it’s a smart way to promote this distinction to other travelers who are about to experience the city’s many delights.

Our heartfelt thanks to gracious hosts the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. They say that Bangkok is the Venice of the East, but after this celebration we’re especially convinced the city’s warmth and beauty stands on its own.
